The purpose of the policy debate camp is to train students to think critically and argumentatively. While there will be a strong focus on topic knowledge, a large portion of the camp will focus on why policy debate has the structure and organization that it does. This way, students will be able to better comprehend the intricacies of more complicated arguments because they can see the underlying reasoning for the contention.
LD debate camp
The purpose of the Lincoln-Douglas debate camp is to train student to think critically and argumentatively. Students who participate in the camp will spend a majority of their time learning advanced philosophical theories, cross-examination techniques as well as researching skills. Students will work on two Resolutions that they will have the potential to debate during the year.
Public forum debate
Running for the first time in 2014, the Public Forum camp focuses on a few things: research, skill development, case writing, cross-examination and debate skills. Students will develop those skills in addition to learning about topic background on Economics, Politics and History, to give them an edge in their research throughout the year.
